Are You Ready for ISSA?
It’s that time of year again! Every Fall, the leaves change and drop from the trees, the kids go back to school, football is in full swing, and the cleaning industry comes together at the ISSA/Interclean Trade Show! Hosted in Chicago this year, the event is held at the McCormick Place Convention Center where it unofficially starts today and runs until Friday, October 19th. Featuring over 600 exhibitors, the show is expected to attract over 16,000 jan/san distributors, building contractors and service professionals over the course of its five day run.
To help you be prepared to efficiently chart your course through the expansive trade show floor, ISSA has a mobile app available for download by scanning the QR code with your smartphone’s bar code reader. The app gives you real-time location information as you walk the floor, including turn-by-turn maps and a customizable list of vendors to help you maximize your time. You can even participate in the 2012 ISSA Innovation Award Program and ISSA Best Customer Service Awards directly on your mobile device! You can also download the app here. You should also come prepared with comfortable shoes, lots of business cards, and a healthy appetite for good “clean” fun!
The theme of this years show is “Reimagine Clean“, with a specific focus on innovation in the industry. There are many events to choose from each day, including an innovation showcase booth, many networking opportunities, daily speakers and several educational sessions to choose from, as well as a new exhibitors pavilion that will showcase the 90+ exhibitors new to this year’s show. The featured keynote speaker this year will be the legendary Tom Brokaw- he delivers his speech “The Voice of a Generation” on Thursday where he will discuss economical, political and social issues in today’s headlines, and their impact on the industry.
Today will feature a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament. Tuesday is a full day of educational opportunities, with over 40 sessions available for attendees to participate in. Wednesday through Friday, the educational sessions will be held on the floor in Booth 3669. Wednesday and Thursday, attendees can cast their votes for the Innovation and Customer Service awards at Booth 2845. Thursday will also be the day that Chicago’s own 80’s cover band, 16 Candles, will perform during the Trade Show Happy Hour (also a great place for networking!) Attendees can also guarantee a meeting with specific exhibitors by scheduling an appointment before the show.
In addition to the many events to attend, booths to visit, and speakers to hear, there will also be the ISSA Sports Zone Bar on the floor to give attendees a much needed rest and a chance to mingle. With so much to see and so much to do, this year’s show is sure to be a success. We at RJ Schinner Redistribution will be there walking the floor of the show on Thursday, and we hope to see you there!
