3 Keys to Selling Green

3 Keys to Selling Green Disposable Products Effectively Contributed by Michael Mirarchi, Manager of Sales Training at RJ Schinner. I was training a group of Foodservice DSR’s and the subject of selling green products was raised. The question was, “How can we sell green products to our customers who don’t want to pay the extra money?” The best way to answer this question is by first understanding that there are different types of green buyers. At a trade show, I met the following customers:   The Environmentalist Buyer: He was from Vermont and was totally into the green movement. He...

Digital Print Napkins – A Great Marketing Tool

Tired of those plain white napkins under your drink?  Are you looking to offer your customers a little pizazz and a way to brand their business?  A smart idea, though not entirely new, is advertising on napkins! Mike Blaney, author of the blog “Good Ideas Are a Dime a Dozen, But Implementation is Priceless” explains this concept well in his 2007 article Napkin Advertising.  “Similar to tissue pack advertising in Japan, the idea is to get an advertisement directly into consumers’ hands—and for longer than one might look at a leaflet before tossing it into the nearest trash can. Keep it Simple on Earth Day.

On Saturday, April 22nd, it will be the 47th Anniversary of Earth Day! Founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues, Earth Day is now a globally celebrated holiday that is sometimes extended into Earth Week, a full seven days of events focused on green awareness. Earth Day was originally aimed at creating a mass environmental movement. It began as a “national teach-in on the environment” and was held on April 22 to maximize the number of students that could be reached on university campuses. RJ Schinner has many products that are sustainable and green choices.  This...

Empress Products have just released a new line in their glove offering, Anti-Microbial Vinyl Gloves. Varied industries, from supermarkets, restaurants and food processors, to healthcare facilities and Jan/San suppliers, face concerns regarding microbial cross contamination. More broadly, distributors and end-users in these industries face the weight of bio-burden in their products and services. Bio-burden refers to the number of bacteria living on an un-sterilized surface. It’s a factor that is often difficult to measure under everyday conditions, but it’s an ever-present concern wherever health safety is a top priority. Simply put – protecting your products and customers from “bad germs”...

Clorox Bleach: Is it Food Safe?

Clorox Bleach isn’t just for laundry. Did you know that Clorox Germicidal Bleach is NSF certified food safe? The Clorox Professional Products Company has indeed earned that certification (see the letter HERE) but you won’t see it on the label, or the box. Despite the missing label, a number of authorities promote liquid chlorine bleach as a food safe sanitizer, including the CDC, the FDA, the USDA, and FoodSafety.gov, in addition to the NSF. According to the letter, Clorox Germicidal Bleach is food safe in it’s regular form – meaning without scents, or additives intended for use in laundry. Clorox...
