Fifty Shades of Green! Eco-Friendly Products for Earth Day

While most places are still a dingy shade of brown, the greens of Spring are starting to pop up! One of the early harbingers of Spring is Earth Day, the annual celebration of conservation that has been observed on the 22nd of April every year since 1970.

Year over year, the role of Earth Day has done it’s job in increasing awareness of more responsible consumerism, and taking better care of the environment. It all began with the Keep America Beautiful organization, established in 1953, which is the non-profit group responsible for the campaign that gave us the famous Iron Eyes Cody PSA in 1971…remember that classic?

Environmental awareness has come a long way over the past 44 years, and what began with PSA campaigns to reduce littering has expanded to include manufacturers finding new and creative ways to reduce their environmental impact. From greener processes, to greener products, the options today cover a huge spectrum of uses.

All facets of our industry now offer green products, from plastic cups, to can liners, to dish soap and take-out containers. With a large part of municipal waste comprised of disposables, the advent of compostable, biodegradable, and recyclable products have allowed consumers to still have the convenience of disposable products and chemicals without the guilt of their negative environmental impact. Listed below are 50 eco-friendly products, in no particular order, that offer your customers a greener solution to their disposable and janitorial needs (that may have even dried the tear from old Iron Eyed Cody’s solemn face.)
